Before your crown can be made we will need to gently prepare your tooth so that the crown can fit over it properly. We will then take an impression of the tooth to obtain a perfect mould from which to make the crown. If porcelain is the material of your choice then we will determine the correct shade for the crown to match the colour of your existing teeth. We will cap your tooth with a temporary crown while the permanent crown is being produced which will replace the temporary one once it is ready.
If you have had a filling where there is little of the tooth remaining, a fragile tooth, root canal treatment or a dental implant then our dentists at Southbank Dental would recommend a dental crown in order to protect and strengthen the tooth.
If you have a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth then we would recommend a dental crown more as a cosmetic measure to make the tooth match the rest of your healthy-looking teeth.
